Evangel Christian sweeps Evangel Family

The Evangel Christian School baseball team swept Evangel Family in a high school baseball doubleheader April 12.

The Lightning (19-5) won the opener 13-2.

Brentley Wells led Evangel Christian at the plate as he finished 3-for-4 with two home runs. Wells drove in three runs and scored three runs in the victory.

Hayden Brown, who drove in two runs and scored three runs, finished 3-for-3 at the plate. Nate Scott, who drove in three runs and scored one run, went 3-for-4 at the plate. Brandon Mackey, who drove in one run and scored two runs, finished 3-for-4 with a home run.

Ben Albright finished 1-for-3 and scored two runs. Peter Lau and Andrew Thompson scored one run each in the win.

Albright earned the win on the mound after giving up two earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts and two walks in a complete game.

The Lightning defeated Evangel Family 14-4 in the nightcap.

Roecker Melick led Evangel Christian as he finished 2-for-3 at the plate. Melick drove in two runs and scored one run in the victory.

Philip Foster finished 1-for-1 and drove in two runs. Albright, who drove in one run and scored one run, went 1-for-2 at the plate. Scott, who drove in one run and scored two runs, finished 1-for-2 at the plate. Brown, who drove in one run and scored two runs, finished 1-for-1 at the plate.

Clay O’Neal finished 1-for-3 at the plate. Matthew Earwood went 1-for-1 and scored two runs. Aaron Clayton, Zac Shackelford and Grayson Melick scored one run each in the victory.

Scott earned the win on the mound after giving up two earned runs on three hits with five strikeouts and a walk in three innings.

Roecker Melick gave up one earned run on one hit with a strikeout and two walks in one inning in relief. Josh Letson struck out one batter in one inning in relief.
