Oak Mountain tops Mountain Brook in soccer match

The Oak Mountain High School girls’ soccer team defeated Mountain Brook 2-1 in overtime in a Class 6A, Section 5 match April 12.

Bailee Harnett scored the lone goal in regulation for Oak Mountain (13-3 overall, 6-2 in Class 6A, Section 5) with an unassisted goal in the 75th minute.

Greer Maddox, Alli Mosher and Toni Payne each netted a goal in a round of penalty kicks to seal the win.

Oak Mountain goalkeeper Jill Hester finished with six saves in the victory, including three saves in the penalty-kick session.

BOYS

The Oak Mountain High School boys’ soccer team defeated Mountain Brook 3-1 in a Class 6A, Section 5 match April 12.

Seniors Donny Maciel, Reid Biasco and John Imwalle netted one goal each for the Eagles, who improved to 13-3 overall.

Maciel scored midway through the first half, breaking a scoreless in regulation streak for the Eagles. Maciel’s assist on a goal by Biasco pushed the Oak Mountain lead to 2-0 at the half.

Imwalle pushed the lead to 3-0 shortly after the second half began and the Eagles cruised to victory.
