Kingwood Christian sweeps softball doubleheader

The Kingwood Christian School softball team swept Prattville Christian in a high school softball doubleheader April 16.

Kingwood Christian defeated Prattville Christian 7-0 in the opener.

Whitney Gillespie led the Lions (32-2) at the plate as she finished 2-for-4 with two doubles. Gillespie drove in two runs and scored two runs in the victory.

Erin Jones, who drove in one run and scored one run, went 2-for-4 at the plate with two doubles. Blair Holsombeck, who drove in one run and scored two runs,  finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a stolen base.

Gillespie earned the win in the circle after giving up just two hits with 14 strikeouts and three walks in a complete game.

The Lions defeated Prattville Christian 14-6 in the nightcap.

Gillespie led Kingwood Christian at the plate as she finished 3-for-4 with a home run and two doubles. Gillespie drove in two runs and scored three runs in the victory.

Karley Chamblee went 1-for-5 at the plate with a home run and scored two runs. Kaylyn Ingram finished 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and scored three runs.

Madeline Lee went 3-for-4 at the plate with a stolen base and scored four runs. Jordan Gray finished 2-for-3 at the plate and scored two runs.

Ingram earned the win after giving up four earned runs on nine hits with four strikeouts and two walks in three innings.

Lee allowed just two hits with two strikeouts and a walk in two innings in relief.
