Panthers sweep baseball doubleheader

The Pelham High School baseball team swept Paul Bryant and Sumiton Christian in a high school baseball doubleheader April 16.

The Panthers defeated Paul Bryant 10-0.

Parker Curry led Pelham (25-13) at the plate as he finished 4-for-4 with two home runs and two doubles. Curry drove in two runs and scored two runs in the victory.

Fletcher Johnson, who drove in five runs and scored two runs, finished 2-for-2 at the plate with two homers. Tanner Jackson, who had one home run, finished 2-for-4 at the plate and drove in two runs.

Thomas Lowery pitched a complete-game no-hitter with 16 strikeouts.

Pelham defeated Sumiton Christian 17-2.

Nick Foster finished 2-for-3 with a home run and a double. Foster drove in two runs in the victory.

Johnson, who scored four runs, went 4-for-4 at the plate with a double and a stolen base. Ty Pierce finished 1-for-2 at the plate with a home run and drove in four runs. Michael Herring went 1-for-3 at the plate with a home run and drove in two runs.

Trevor Fitts earned the win on the mound after giving up two earned runs on three hits with 10 strikeouts.
