Four teams headed to AHSAA baseball playoffs

Four Shelby County high school baseball teams will continue their seasons in the Alabama High School Athletic Association playoffs April 22-23.

Spain Park and Oak Mountain qualified for the AHSAA Class 6A playoffs. Briarwood Christian will play in the Class 5A playoffs, while Calera will participate in the Class 4A playoffs.

Spain Park, which won the Class 6A, Area 12 title, will host Minor in a best-of-three series in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs. Friday’s games are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday’s if-needed game is scheduled for noon.

Oak Mountain, which finished runner-up in Class 6A, Area 10, will travel to Tuscaloosa County for a best-of-three series in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs. Friday’s games are slated for 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday’s if-needed game is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Briarwood Christian, which won the Class 5A, Area 7 championship, will host Pleasant Grove in a best-of-three series in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs. Friday’s games are scheduled for 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday’s if-needed game is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Calera, which finished runner-up in Class 4A, Area 8, will travel to Holt in a best-of-three series in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs. Friday’s games are slated for 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Saturday’s if-nedded game is set for 1 p.m.
