Spain Park drops doubleheader against Oxford

The Spain Park High School baseball team capped its regular season with two losses to Oxford in high school baseball action April 18.

The Jaguars (32-11) fell to Oxford 7-0 in the opener.

Charlie McPherson recorded the lone hit for the Jaguars as he finished 1-for-2 at the plate.

McPherson took the loss on the mound after giving up three earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts in three innings.

Austin Veteto allowed three earned runs on six hits with one strikeout in 2 2/3 innings in relief. Hunter Hall gave up one earned run on two hits with a strikeout and a walk in 1 1/3 innings in relief.

Spain Park fell to Oxford 7-5 in the nightcap.

Mikey White led the Jaguars as he finished 2-for-2 at the plate with two doubles. White drove in one run and scored one run in the defeat.

Alex Close finished 2-for-4 at the plate and drove in two runs. Nathan Brock went 2-for-4 at the plate and drove in one run.

Paul Angel finished 1-for-4 at the plate and scored one run. Josh Close went 1-for-2 at the plate. Carter White, Hunter Kahn and Colton Freeman scored one run each in the defeat.

Nick Mullens took the loss on the mound.
