The Evangel Christian School baseball team pounded Mellow Valley Christian Academy 36-2 in high school baseball action April 18.

The Lightning (20-7) scored 20 runs in the top of the first inning in the victory.

Andrew Thompson led Evangel Christian as he finished 3-for-3 at the plate. Thompson drove in three runs and scored three runs in the victory.

Thomas Milstead, who drove in one run and scored three runs, finished 2-for-2 at the plate with a triple. Josh Letson, who drove in two runs and scored two runs, went 2-for-3 at the plate. Brentley Wells, who drove in one run and scored three runs, finished 2-for-2 at the plate.

Hayden Brown, who drove in three runs and scored three runs, went 2-for-2 at the plate with a double. Nate Scott, who drove in one run and scored two runs, finished 2-for-2 at the plate. Brandon Mackey finished 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and scored three runs in the victory.

Matthew Earwood, who drove in two runs and scored two runs, finished 1-for-1 at the plate. Peter Lau, who drove in four runs and scored three runs, went 1-for-2 at the plate. Zac Shackelford, who drove in one run and scored two runs, finished 1-for-1 at the plate.

Grayson Melick went 1-for-1 and scored two runs. Clay O’Neal, who drove in two runs and scored one run, finished 1-for-1 at the plate. Roecker Melick, who drove in two runs and scored two runs, went 1-for-2 at the plate with a double. Colin Myers finished 1-for-2 at the plate and scored two runs.

Ben Albright and Daniel Ellis drove in one run and scored one run each in the victory. Aaron Clayton scored one run.

Albright earned the win on the mound after striking out two batters and issuing one walk in one hitless inning.

Letson struck out one batter in one inning in relief. Thompson allowed one earned run with three strikeouts and four walks in two innings.
