Hope Christian sweeps softball doubleheader with Tabernacle Christian

The Hope Christian School softball team swept Tabernacle Christian in a high school softball doubleheader April 19.

The Eagles (13-5-1) won the first game against Tabernacle Christian 21-4.

Ashley Vann led Hope Christian at the plate as she finished 1-for-1 at the plate with a home run. Vann drove in four runs and scored three runs in the victory.

Glennleigh Boyd finished 1-for-1 at the plate with a double and scored one run. Sarah Birdsong, who drove in two runs and scored two runs, finished 1-for-2 at the plate. Tiffany Skinner, who drove in two runs and scored one run, went 1-for-2 at the plate. Hannah Rettig, who drove in one run and scored two runs, finished 1-for-2 at the plate. Layla Skinner, who drove in two runs and scored one run, went 1-for-2 at the plate.

Megan Mahan finished 1-for-3 at the plate and scored two runs. Amanda Rowley scored three runs. Ashleigh Callahan and Samantha Rowley scored two runs each. Ani Hughes scored one run.

Lindy Walker earned the win in the circle after giving up two earned runs on two hits with two strikeouts in two innings. Tiffany Skinner allowed two earned runs with two strikeouts in one inning in relief.

The Eagles defeated Tabernacle Christian 16-3 in the nightcap.

Callahan led Hope Christian at the plate as she finished 2-for-3 at the plate with two triples. Callahan drove in two runs and scored three runs in the victory.

Vann, who drove in one run and scored two runs, finished 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles. Tiffany Skinner went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored one run.

Mahan, who drove in one run and scored one run, finished 1-for-2 at the plate. Layla Skinner, who drove in one run and scored one run, went 1-for-4 at the plate. Walker, who drove in one run and scored one run, finished 1-for-2 at the plate.

Samantha Rowley scored three runs. Boyd and Hughes scored two runs each in the victory.

Vann earned the win in the circle after giving up three earned runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and two walks in a five-inning complete game.
