Oak Mountain splits playoff games

The Oak Mountain High School baseball team split a doubleheader with Tuscaloosa County in the opening round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A playoffs April 22.

The Eagles won the opener 7-4 before falling to Tuscaloosa County 6-3 in the nightcap.

Oak Mountain (21-15) will face Tuscaloosa County in the deciding third game April 23 at 1 p.m.

The Eagles used a six-run third inning to clinch a victory in the opening game.

Heath Quinn led Oak Mountain at the plate as he finished 1-for-3 with a home run. Quinn drove in four runs and scored one run in the victory.

Jake Hubbard earned the win on the mound after giving up four earned runs on six hits with seven strikeouts and three walks in a complete game.

The Eagles fell in the nightcap 6-3.

David Dahl led Oak Mountain at the plate as he finished 2-for-2 with a home run. Dahl drove in two runs and scored one run in the defeat.

J.D. Crowe finished 1-for-3 and scored two runs.

Robby Clements took the loss after giving up two earned runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and four walks in a complete game.
