Dorothy “Mama Dot” Kendrick Bradley

Dorothy “Mama Dot” Kendrick Bradley, age 89, a resident of Chelsea, won her 11-year battle with Alzheimer’s on Monday, May 2, 2011. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Chelsea Church of God with Rev. Gary Haymon and Rev. Mike Kiker officiating. Bolton Funeral Home of Columbiana is directing. Burial will follow in K-Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Chelsea Church of God.

Mama Dot was a charter member of the Chelsea Church of God (where she was pianist for 65 years) and the Chelsea Trio. Devoted to family and church, she was a faithful prayer warrior who cared about people of all ages. She shared her wonderful cooking with people in need, and her quick wit was such a delight. Her children “rise up and call her blessed” (Proverbs 31).

Mrs. Bradley is preceded in death by her husband, W.R. “Willie” Bradley. She is survived by her children, Jerry Bradley (Glenda B.), Linda Brasher (Bill), Rodney Bradley (Glenda M.) and Denise Wallace (Steven); sister, Lois Syphurs; grandchildren, Todd Brasher (Kelley), Michelle Landrum (Steve), Eric Bradley (Christy), Kimberly Bradley, Tracy Gulledge (Shane) and Kendrick Wallace; great-grandchildren, Kailyn Hill and Elizabeth Bradley; and numerous other nieces, nephews, family and friends

Thanks to the Shelby Ridge staff for their care for the past 3 1/2 years and to the nurses and staff of Odyssey Hospice for their tender care, especially in her last hours.
