The Chelsea High School boys’ soccer team advanced to the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A quarterfinals May 3 with an overwhelming 10-0 victory over the Moody Blue Devils.

Chelsea’s midfielder Ashley Page started the scoring just a few minutes into the game, and the Hornets never let up the rest of the match

Page led the way with four goals. Freshman Will Bevill had three goals, while Jeff Dunkerley, Dakota Dresbach, and Eric King added one goal each.

The win marked Chelsea’s first playoff victory in the program’s history.

“I’m proud of these players,” said Chelsea coach Lee Miller. “We’ve worked hard to get to this point, and we’re excited about moving on in the state tournament.”

Chelsea will host their section rival Sylacauga in the quarterfinals May 7 at 5 p.m. with a trip to the AHSAA Class 5A Final Four in Huntsville at stake.

Chelsea has beaten Sylacauga twice this year, but Sylacauga has eliminated Chelsea in the playoffs the last two seasons.
