Oak Mountain softball tops Chelsea

The Oak Mountain High School softball team defeated Chelsea 6-4 in high school softball action May 2.

Oak Mountain overcame a 3-0 deficit to clinch the victory.

Caroline Seitz led the Eagles (33-14) at the plate as she finished 2-for-3 with a home run. Seitz drove in two runs and scored two runs in the victory.

Maddie Ridgeway finished 3-for-4 at the plate with a stolen base and two runs scored. Hannah Griffin, who also had a stolen base, went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and scored two runs. Haley Thomaston finished 1-for-4 at the plate and drove in three runs.

Anne Thomaston earned the win in the circle after giving up one earned run on four hits with seven strikeouts and two walks in 4 2/3 innings. Leah Reeve allowed three earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts and a walk in 2 1/3 innings.

Amanda Mock led the Hornets (25-14) at the plate as she finished 1-for-4 with a home run. Mock drove in two runs and scored one run in the defeat.

Alex Osborn, who drove in one run and scored one run, finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a homer. Kelsey Rich finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and scored one run. Morgan Pence went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Caitlin Bice took the loss in the circle after giving up three earned runs on eight hits with a strikeout and three walks in 3 2/3 innings. Pence allowed three earned runs on five hits in 2 1/3 innings.
