Eagles down Panthers in playoff match

The Oak Mountain High School girls’ soccer team defeated Pelham 6-0 in the opening round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A playoffs May 3.

Bailee Harnett opened the scoring in the match with her goal just 35 seconds into the contest. Megan Dancy added a goal just one minute later to give the Eagles an early 2-0 lead.

Toni Payne and Kathleen McGahan added a goal each to push the Oak Mountain lead to 4-0. Megan Sweatt and Monteana Etten-Bonn capped the scoring for the Eagles with one goal each.

McGahan, Haley Gerken and Emma Gambrell finished with one assist each in the victory.

Oak Mountain goalkeeper Jill Hester posted the shut out. Pelham goalkeeper Selina Delgadillo finished with 18 saves in the match.
