Spain Park golfers headed to state tournament

The Spain Park High School boys’ golf team will attempt to defend its Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A championship in a fourth-consecutive trip to the state tournament after the Jaguars qualified for the tournament in the sub-state round May 2.

The Jaguars carded a team total of 297 strokes and finished second overall in team standings in a Class 6A sub-state tournament May 2.

Robby Prater led Spain Park as he fired a 1-under par 71 in the sub-state tournament.

Michael Johnson finished with a 1-over par 73. Vasili Kartos carded a 3-over par 76. Daniel Schroder finished with a 4-over par 77. Riley Smith shot an 81 in the sub-state tournament.
