FROM STAFF REPORTS

The Alabaster Sports and Entertainment Foundation, the Thompson High School Quarterback Club and the city of Alabaster will be welcoming the new THS head football coach during the first Warrior Pride Day May 6.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. at Thompson’s Larry Simmons Stadium off Thompson Road, and will focus on new THS football coach Caleb Ross.

Warrior Pride Day will feature inflatable games, face painting, dance contests, music and fireworks and performances by the THS band and dance team. Vendors will also have food available for purchase.

The event was originally scheduled for April 1, but was postponed until Ross was approved by the Shelby County Board of Education.

The event is free, but because Ross currently is driving from Prattville to Alabaster every day to conduct afternoon workouts and spring practice, event organizers are asking attendees to donate a Publix gas gift card to help offset Ross’ travel expenses.

Donations can be dropped off at the ASEF or Quarterback Club tables set up at the event.
