The Thompson High School softball team inched closer to the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A, Area 10 tournament title following a 7-3 win over Oak Mountain in the tournament May 6.

Rachel Rigney led the Warriors (29-16) at the plate as she finished 2-for-4 with a homer. Rigney drove in four runs and scored two runs in the victory.

Taylor Powell went 3-for-4 at the plate and scored one run.  Sarah Beth Holdbrooks finished 2-for-4 at the plate with two doubles.

Rigney earned the win in the circle after giving up three runs on nine hits with five strikeouts in a complete game.

Hannah Griffin and Kailey Boone led the Eagles (35-15) at the plate with a solo homer each.
