Sylacauga

Betty Joyce Sims, 79, passed away May 6, 2011, at Coosa Valley Medical Center in Bessemer.

Visitation was held May 9 from noon-2 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapl. Funeral service was held on May 9, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel with Brother Ed Green officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery. Her grandsons will be pallbearers.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Thomas A Sims of Sylacauga; her sons, Sandy Sims of Pascagoula, Miss., Robert Sims (Teresa) of Sylacauga and Mark Sims (Charlotte) of Sylacauga; her daughter, Tonia Lipscomb (Tim) of Rockford; her sister-in-law, Jean Countryman of Prattville; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by granddaughter Melissa Oglesby and brother, Jerry Countryman.
