Spain Park High School junior goalkeeper Schyler Arnold earned a spot on the front  page of ESPN’s high school sports website after recently tying a school record set by her older sibling.

Arnold, who posted her 16th shutout of the season in a win over Huntsville in the quarterfinal round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A playoffs May 9, was selected as the national ESPN Rise Player of the Week following her performance.

Arnold, who hasn’t allowed a goal in three playoff matches and has posted a shutout in eight of the Jaguars’ past nine matches, tied a single-season mark for shutouts set last season by her older sister, Lauren. Lauren Arnold just wrapped up her freshman season at Clemson University.

The Jaguars are the two-time defending AHSAA Class 6A champions and are seeking a third consecutive title this weekend at John Hunt Park in Huntsville.

Spain Park (23-3-1) will meet rival Hoover in an AHSAA Class 6A semifinal match May 13 at 6 p.m.
