AISA athletes named to all-star teams

Ten athletes and two coaches from Alabama Independent Schools Association member schools in Shelby County have been chosen to represent their teams in the association’s all-star baseball and softball games.

The AISA all-star baseball game will include five players from Shelby County.

Coosa Valley Academy teammates Jarrod Mims and Daniel Kennedy will play for the National team in the senior all-star game next month at Troy University.

The Rebels’ Hunter Winslett and Steven Cryer will play for the American team in the junior all-star game. The duo will be joined in the game by Chase Payne of Cornerstone Christian School, who will play for the National team in the junior all-star game.

Coosa Valley coach Bobby Hughes will lead the National team in the senior all-star game. Cornerstone Christian coach Tim Smith will coach the National team in the junior all-star game.

The AISA all-star softball game will also feature five players from Shelby County.

Cornerstone Christian senior Kailey Goodwin will play for the American team in the senior all-star game.

Teammates Madeline Lee and Karlee Chamblee will play for the American team in the junior all-star game.

Jana Kelbie Armstrong and Destiny Dillard of Cornerstone Christian will play for the National team in the junior all-star game.
