Kathleen Anne “Kathy” Hefferly

Potomac, Md.

Kathleen Anne Hefferly, 52, of Potomac, Md., died of Alzheimer’s disease on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Sanctuary at Holy Cross in Burtonsville, Md.

She worked for the Olive Garden Italian Restaurant at the Riverchase Galleria Mall in Hoover from 1988 to 2008. She was also employed by the Battle Buffet restaurant at the Hoover Mall in Hoover. She retired in 2008.

Miss Hefferly was born in Washington, D.C. She attended the Sparks Center at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hoover, where she lived, and she competed in the Special Olympics. She was an active participant at the Exceptional Foundation in Homewood.

Kathleen was the beloved daughter of Mary A. Hefferly of Potomac, Md. and the late Fred K. Hefferly, Jr.; sister of Deborah Biesenbach (Donald) of Potomac, Md., Mark Hefferly (Teresa) of The Woodlands, Texas, David Hefferly (Robyn) of Charlotte, NC, Donna Fleming (Kent) of Columbus, Ga., Michele Tennery of Arlington, VA and Mara Fabian (Jeff) of Denver, Colo.; aunt of Michael, Laura Asmussen, Andrew, Patrick and David Hefferly, Fleming, Clancy, Mary Kendall and Luke Hefferly, Reed, Kristen and Madison Fleming and Sarah Fabian; great aunt of Kolbe and Reagan Asmussen, Jackson Hefferly and John Hefferly.

Relatives and friends may join her family in a celebration of her life at a memorial Mass to be held on Saturday, June 4 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 2061 Patton Chapel Road in Hoover.
