Spain Park to host Hoover Baseball Showcase

Spain Park High School will host the third annual Hoover Baseball Showcase this weekend.

Spain Park is serving as the host for the tournament, which will feature games at Spain Park High School and the Spain Park athletic complex off Valleydale Road, for the second year in a row.

The tournament will feature several of the top high school baseball programs in the state, along with top teams from Florida and Georgia.

The games will count toward the number of summer playing dates allowed for high school baseball teams according to Alabama High School Athletic Association rules.

Spain Park will face Hewitt-Trussville, Mountain Brook, Pinson Valley, Thompson and Parkview (Ga.) during the tournament.

Thompson will field two teams in the varsity portion of the tournament.

The Warriors will face Florence, Shoals Christian, Homewood, Hewitt-Trussville, Pinson Valley, Hoover, Mountain Brook, Grissom, Chiles (Fla.) and Mill Creek (Ga.) during the tournament.

Spain Park and Thompson will each field a team in the junior varsity portion of the tournament as well.

Games begin Thursday, June 2 at 3:15 p.m. and will wrap up Saturday, June 4.
