Sylvia Smitherman went to meet the Lord on May 31, 2011. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James, and youngest son, Bobby Smitherman. Mrs. Smitherman is survived by two daughters, Linda Crumpton (Roger) and Lisa Davis (Larry); two sons, Wayne Smitherman (Dale) and Kenneth Smitherman (Shirley); brother, Willis Clark; sister, Vera Northcutt; six grandchildren, Stephen and Brian Segars, James and Clint Marlow and Lesley and Ashley Tomkins; seven great-grandchildren; and a dear friend and companion, Charles “Bob” Bailey.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home, Montevallo. Funeral service will be held Friday, June 3, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Interment to follow in the adjoining cemetery. She will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. Rockco Funeral Home, Montevallo directing.
