Bobby D. Mitchell, age 79, of Cleveland and a long time resident of Calera, passed away at his residence on June 20, 2011. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at Bolton Funeral Home with Rev. Howard Brasher officiating. Burial will follow in Shelby Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Bolton Funeral Home.

Mr. Mitchell was retired from Martin Marietta and was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Mr. Mitchell is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn L. Mitchell; parents, Joseph L. Sr. and Lena I. Mitchell; brothers, Johnny S. Mitchell, Joseph L. “Jody” Mitchell, Jr., Walter R. “Pete” Mitchell and Lonnie T. “Tom” Mitchell; and sisters, Theresa I. “Reesie” Jones and Ola L. Luquire. Mr. Mitchell is survived by his son, Stephen M. Mitchell of Calera; beloved companion, Shirley O. Hullett of Cleveland; brothers, Robert H. “Jack” Mitchell (Virginia) of Shelby, J.D. Mitchell of Vidalla, Ga., James C. Mitchell (Martha) of Maylene and Charles L. “Gus” Mitchell of Lumber City, Ga.; sister, Marjorie E.
