A North Carolina-based bank with branches in Alabaster, Pelham and Hoover will be under new ownership next year, after a Pittsburgh bank announced it will purchase the organization.

The PNC Financial Group announced June 20 it has signed an agreement to purchase the United States arm of RBC Bank for $3.45 billion.

RBC Bank has 424 branches in six states, including one on Alabama 119 in Alabaster, one on U.S. 31 in Pelham and one on Meadow Lake Drive off U.S. 280 in Hoover.

Once the transaction is complete, which is expected to happen in the first quarter of 2012, current RBC Bank customers will be converted to the PNC platform, and current RBC Bank locations will be renamed PNC locations.

“PNC expects to retain most of (the) RBC Bank (USA) customer-facing employees,” read a PNC press release.
