County applying for grant for individual storm shelters

Shelby County Emergency Management is applying for a grant through the Federal Emergency Management Agency for individual storm shelters.

Applications for individual storms shelters for residents in Shelby County are now being taken. The application can be found on the county website Shelbyal.com under the Emergency Management section.

The deadline for the grant is August 1, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.

There will be a mandatory meeting on Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. to review the process and answer any questions. The meeting will be held at Oak Mountain High School, 5476 Caldwell Mill Road, Birmingham, in the performing arts auditorium.
