John Lucas, a resident of the Brierfield Community passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at his home. Everyone knew him as “Bubba.” He was one in a million with the storys he would tell. It would keep you laughing. He loved his family very much. We will miss you. We love you, Daddy.

Bubba was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Winston and Pauline Lucas. He was survived by children, John Michael Lucas (Tracy), Christie Carter (Brian); grandkids, Samantha Lucas (Corey), Brittany McMullin, Michael Peyton Lucas, Kelly, Kayla and Kendall Horton and Kortney Carter; great-grandson, Michael Scott Lucas; mother, Alice, and step dad, Roy Sowers; brothers and sisters, Ricky Smitherman (Polly), Linda Price (Doug), Mona Posey (Alford), Eunice Morris (Donald), Winston Lucas (Amy) and Brenda Sue; also survived by many aunts, uncles, niece, nephew, cousins and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 1, 2011, at Rockco Chapel from 6-8 p.m. for friends. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Rockco Chapel at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow in the Reynolds Cemetery with Rev. Calvin Smitherman officiating.
