Mr. and Mrs. Michael William Hooper of Chelsea announce the engagement of their daughter, Morgan Whitney Hooper, to Robert Lehman Drinkard, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Law Drinkard of Troy.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Estes of Jackson, Miss., and Ms. Hazel Banks Walters Reed of Caledonia, Miss.

Miss Morgan graduated from Chelsea High School in 2006 and earned a degree in broadcast journalism and public relations from Troy University in 2010. Currently, she is attending the University of Alabama and will receive her master’s degree in advertising and public relations in August.

The future groom is the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Douglas Hawkins and the late Rachel Youngblood Hawkins of Troy, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Beard Drinkard of Brundidge.

He graduated from Pike Liberal Arts School in 2005; Mr. Drinkard graduated from Troy University in 2009 with a degree in design, technology and innovation. He is employed as a publication specialist at Troy University in the Marketing and Communication Department.

The wedding is planned for Oct. 22, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Troy.
