Alabaster officials are looking to help the family of a woman and an infant who were stabbed to death in a July 15 incident at the Shelby Motor Lodge.

Columbiana resident Tryphena Lacey, 24, and her daughter, 9-month-old Trinity Lacey Patterson died after they were stabbed at the hotel at about noon, according to police.

Police later arrested 34-year-old Louisiana resident Terrance Patterson, Trinity Patterson’s father, and charged him with two counts of murder.

Tamane Moore, the brother of Tryphena Lacey and uncle of Trinity Patterson, has set up an account at BBVA Compass Bank in Pelham to help the family cover the funeral expenses for the two victims, said Alabaster Assistant to the Mayor Lori Conklin.

“He said that there was no insurance in place for (Lacey) or her daughter, and the family has opened an account at Compass Bank in Pelham for donations to help the family pay for the funeral of both mother and daughter,” Conklin said.

Conklin said the BBVA Compass Bank account is still open for donations.

The bank is located at 3080 Pelham Parkway, and can be reached 297-5310.

“Hopefully, we can assist this family at such a devastating time in their lives,” Conklin said.
