Panthers finish runner-up at tournament

The Pelham High School volleyball team finished runner-up in the Juanita Boddie tournament Aug. 20 at Hewitt-Trussville High School.

The Panthers fell to Bob Jones 27-29, 23-25 in the Silver Division tournament championship match.

Porsha Tolbert led Pelham (4-4) with six kills and 14 digs in the defeat.

Ashley Kate Kepler and Autumn Wild recorded four kills each. Dana Allen contributed three kills.

Sydney Days registered six digs and a team-high 18 assists.

Pelham defeated Baker 15-25, 25-23, 18-16 in the tournament semifinals.

Alison El-Feraly led the Panthers with six kills. Kepler and Allen added five kills, while Tolbert recorded four kills.

Haeden Tucker led the Panthers with nine digs. Days added seven digs and 20 assists.

The Panthers defeated Sparkman 25-15, 25-17 in the tournament quarterfinals.

Tolbert led Pelham with five kills and four digs. Kepler added four kills. Allen and Caitland Smith finished with three kills each.

Days registered a team-high 18 assists.

Pelham defeated Austin 25-22, 25-19 in a pool play match in the tournament Aug. 20.

Tolbert led the Panthers with 10 kills. Smith added nine kills. Kepler finished with five kills.

Tucker led Pelham with nine digs. Days finished with 23 assists.

The Panthers topped Shades Mountain Christian 25-13, 25-18 in a pool play match in the tournament Aug. 19.

Allen led Pelham with seven kills. Tolbert recorded five kills and a team-high four digs. Courtney Rawden finished with three kills.

Days registered a team-high 22 assists.

Pelham dropped two pool play matches in the tournament. The Panthers fell to Carver-Montgomery 21-25, 23-25 before dropping a match against McGill-Toolen 15-25, 22-25.
