Eagles finish runner-up at Invitational

The Calera High School volleyball team finished runner-up in its Invitational tournament Aug. 27.

The Eagles fell to Chelsea 26-28, 13-25 in the championship match.

Amber Sherman led Calera with five kills in the title match. Elizabeth Rhinehart recorded a team-high nine digs. Kellie Rasmussen finished with seven digs. Aubrie Smith added six digs.

Sherman and Rasmussen were each named to the all-tournament team.

Calera defeated Shades Mountain Christian 25-15, 25-23 in the semifinals.

A’Kia Harris led the Eagles with 10 kills in the victory. Amber Sherman finished with a team-high nine digs.

The Eagles topped Thorsby 25-17, 25-19 in a pool play match. Harris led Calera with eight kills in the victory.

Calera defeated Shelby County 25-22, 22-25, 15-12 in a pool play match.

Harris led the Eagles with nine kills in the win.

Rhinehart finished with a team-high 15 digs. Sherman recorded a team-high seven service aces.

Calera opened the tournament with a 25-12, 25-13 win over Minor.

Harris led the Eagles with 10 kills in the victory. Rasmussen finished with a team-high six service aces.
