Eagles pound Buckhorn in season opener

Oak Mountain High School football coach Jeff Harris picked up his first win in a season opener in his three years at the helm Aug. 26 following the Eagles’ 31-6 victory on the road at Buckhorn.

Junior quarterback Jake Adams threw three touchdown passes and rushed for another touchdown to lead Oak Mountain in the victory.

Jake Hester caught two touchdown passes and Heath Quinn reeled in one touchdown reception. Mitch Mathias kicked a 40-yard field goal to cap the scoring for Oak Mountain in its opener.

“It was a nice way to start,” Harris said. “We had a few hiccups early on, but we overcame and rebounded nicely.”

Adams completed 6-of-9 passes for 121 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Adams also rushed for 34 yards on seven carries.

Bradley Bostick led the Eagles (1-0) with 52 rushing yards on 11 carries. Heath Quinn caught four passes for 79 yards.

Lloyd Time led the Oak Mountain defense with 10 tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles.
