Clara M. Pitts

Mrs. Clara M. Pitts, age 88, of Helena, passed away Aug. 23, 2011. She was a lifelong member of South Crest Baptist Church. She was the church secretary and nursery coordinator for many years.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jake R. Pitts Sr.; a son, Jake R. Pitts Jr.; and two grandsons, Joey Lutz, and Buddy Pitts. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by two daughters, Joyce and Paul Lutz, and Gaynell and Jim Hill; one brother, Max Haley; six grandchildren, Cliassa Edwards, Paula Davenport, Michelle Thomas, Tommy Allcorn, Floyd Pitts and Tracy Deerman; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

The family received friends Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral services were Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at 1 p.m. at South Crest Baptist Church with Reverend Carl Benedict officiating. Interment was in Genrey Gap Cemetery.
