Panthers fall in tournament semifinals

The Pelham High School volleyball team fell to McGill-Toolen Catholic School of Mobile on Sept. 3 in the semifinals of the Guntersville Labor Day Invitational.

The Panthers were knocked out of the Gold Division tournament following a 15-25, 12-25 loss to the Dirty Dozen.

Pelham posted three wins in pool play matches before topping Walker 25-20, 25-9 in the tournament quarterfinals. The Panthers defeated Catholic-Montgomery 25-18, 25-19 in their first pool play match before topping Boaz 25-15, 23-25, 15-9 in their second pool play match.

Pelham closed pool play with a 25-22, 25-20 win over Hartselle in its final pool play match.

Senior Dana Allen led the Panthers with 32 kills in the tournament. Allen also finished with six service aces.

Senior Ashley Kate Kepler added 24 kills and 13 blocks in the tournament. Junior Bradleigh Smith compiled 17 blocks and seven service aces.

Sophomore Alison El-Feraly contributed six service aces. Sophomore Caitland Smith posted 25 blocks. Junior Haeden Tucker finished with a team-high 20 digs in the tournament.

Senior Sydney Days registered a team-high 91 assists.
