Lions finish runner-up at tournament

The Briarwood Christian School volleyball team finished runner-up in the Lincoln Invitational tournament Sept. 10.

The Lions fell to Moody 23-25, 22-25 in the championship match.

Senior Logan Nasworthy and freshman Lauren Palmer led the Lions (10-11) with eight kills each in the title match.

Nasworthy added four digs and three service aces.

Freshmen Kelly Bemis, who registered six digs, and Madison Chambers posted one kill each. Junior Lizzie Baumback finished with seven digs and a team-high three service aces.

Senior Carly Cline posted four digs and two service aces. Junior Adeline Reiser recorded a team-high 18 assists.

Briarwood Christian defeated Springville 25-23, 14-25, 17-15 to reach the championship match.

Nasworthy led the Lions with nine kills, five digs and two blocks in the victory.

Chambers posted five kills, one dig and one block. Palmer contributed three kills and a service ace.

Cline registered a service ace and a team-high 15 digs. Bemis posted eight digs. Baumbach recorded two service aces.

Georgia Muir-Taylor finished with one dig and one block. Reiser contributed two digs, two service aces and a team-high 20 assists.

The Lions defeated Altamont 25-22, 25-11 in a pool play match.

Nasworthy led the Lions with 12 kills and five service aces in the win.

Cline posted a team-high six digs. Muir-Taylor had a team-high two blocks and Reiser finished with 15 assists.

Briarwood Christian defeated Fayetteville 25-14, 25-9 in a pool play match.

Chambers led the Lions with six kills in the victory.

Baumbach finished with six service aces. Nasworthy posted a team-high four digs. Reiser contributed 20 assists.

The Lions defeated Springville 25-20, 25-7 in a pool play match.

Nasworthy led Briarwood Christian with five kills and three service aces in the win.

Baumbach posted a team-high 11 digs. Muir-Taylor finished with two blocks. Reiser finished with four assists.

Briarwood Christian defeated American Christian 25-10, 27-25 in its opening pool play  match.

Nasworthy posted a team-high four kills, eight service aces and four digs in the win.

Reiser finished with a team-high nine assists in the match.
