Falcons add three new women’s basketball recruits

First-year University of Montevallo women’s basketball head coach Cindy Hilbrich announced the addition of three recruits for the 2011-12 season Sept. 12.

Taylor Beverly, Teanna Boxley and Zena Nasiloski will join the Falcons this fall.

Beverly, a 5-foot-9 forward from Brandon, Miss., will join the Falcons as a freshman after a strong career at Northwest Rankin High School.

Beverly is ranked the No. 9 recruit coming out of Mississippi by FILA. Beverly averaged 19.4 points per game, 8.9 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game as a senior. She was named first team All-State as a senior and was named the most valuable player of the state championship game. Beverly was named to the Mississippi All-District team following the 2008-2009 season. She was named the 2010 District most valuable player and the Rankin County tournament’s most valuable player.

Beverly participated in the 2010 Alabama-Mississippi all-star game and was named a Top Performer by the Clarion Ledger, in Jackson, Miss., five times. She was also named the Clarion Ledger metro area Athlete of the Week in 2010 and Player of the Year in 2011.

Boxley, a 5-foot-5 guard from Mesa, Ariz., comes to Montevallo after two seasons at Arizona Western Community College and will join the Falcons as a junior.

While at Arizona Western, Boxley was named second team All-Region. Last season, Boxley averaged 7.5 points per game while shooting 40 percent from the field. She also hit 81 percent of her shots from the charity stripe and dished out 3.2 assists per game.

As a freshman, Boxley averaged 4.2 points per game. Prior to Arizona Western, Boxley prepped at Westwood High School, where she was in the top 15 percent of her graduating class. As a senior, she was named first team All-Region and to the All-Defensive team. She was named second team All-Region as a sophomore and junior and was named the team’s most valuable player her junior year as well.

Nasiloski, a 5-foot-8 guard from Hammond, Ind., spent the last two seasons at Northeast Community College and will join the Falcons as a junior.

While at Northeast, Nasiloski was named second team All-Conference as a senior and was also named to the All-Tournament team. As a freshman, she was All-Conference honorable mention. Prior to Northeast, Nasiloski prepped at Hammond High School, where she was named All-Conference. She was also named second team All-Area.

Beverly, Boxley and Nasiloski will join the six returning players to form the first Montevallo squad under the direction of Hilbrich.
