Five roads part of resurfacing project

COLUMBIANA – Five roads in Shelby County will be resurfaced starting in the spring as part of a $3 million project.

Shelby County Engineer Randy Cole released a list of the roads to be resurfaced during Monday morning’s county commission meeting.

The county will pay for the project with $600,000 in local money to match $2.4 million in federal money through the Birmingham Metropolitan Planning Organization.

The roads to be resurfaced are:

-County Road 12 (Smokey Road) from County Road 87 to State Highway 119

-County Road 52 (Morgan Road) from State Highway 261 to South Shades Crest Road

-County Road 17 from Creekview Elementary to Hillsboro Parkway

-County Road 47 from County 49 to Yellowleaf Creek

-County Road 51 between U.S. 280 and County Road 55
