FROM STAFF REPORTS

The University of Montevallo men’s soccer team dropped its second-straight game this week following a 2-1 loss to Christian Brothers University in double overtime in a match Sept. 16.

In a very physical and evenly played match, the Falcons (3-2-1) allowed a goal with just two minutes remaining in the second overtime period as Tony Aloia scored his second goal of the night for the Buccaneers.

Montevallo opened the scoring just six minutes into the game as Tyson Eyo took a free kick from 25 yards out and hit it off the post and into the goal. The Bucs responded 15 minutes later as Aloia scored his first goal of the game on a breakaway as he beat the Montevallo keeper.

The game would remain tied for 88 minutes until Aloia struck again at the 108:00 mark on another throughball for a one-v-one with the keeper.

Christian Brothers barely outshot the Falcons 11-10 but had six shots on goal compared to UM’s three.

Sophomore Brendan Ledgeway made four saves in the loss as his record fell to 3-2-1.

Christian Brothers was called for 24 fouls including a pair of yellow cards while the Falcons committed 15 fouls and had two yellow cards as well.

Eyo led the Falcons with three shots including two on goal.

The Falcons will return to action Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m. as they host Concordia College-Selma in a non-conference match.
