Jaguars finish second in Spain Park Invitational race

The Spain Park High School boys’ cross country team finished second in the Jaguars’ Invitational 5K race Sept. 17 at Veterans Park in Hoover.

Hoover claimed both the boys and the girls’ team championships at the Invitational.

Steven Crain led the Jaguars as he finished second overall in the boys’ race with his time of 17:20.83.

Teammate Rome Fiore came in ninth overall with his time of 18:03.50. Sam Lorino of Spain Park finished 12th overall with his time of 18:07.71.

Spain Park’s Ben Lapinski finished 16th overall with his time of 18:19.22. Austin Marcum came in 23rd overall with his time of 18:33.32. The Jaguars’ Mark Ferrell finished 24th overall with his time of 18:37.82.

Oak Mountain finished fourth in the boys’ team standings.

Will Hamaker led the Eagles as he came in 13th overall with is time of 18:13.60. Teammate Caleb Mintz finished 19th overall with his time of 18:23.27. Travis Rocha finished 21st overall with his time of 18:24.84.

Thompson came in fifth in the boys’ team standings.

Michael Johnson led the Warriors as he finished fifth overall with his time of 17:46.17. Teammate Jordan Smith came in 14th overall with his time of 18:15.31.

Pelham finished sixth in the boys’ team standings.

Mason Webber led the Panthers as he came in 10th overall with his time of 18:03.58.

Briarwood Christian came in 14th in the boys’ team standings. Indian Springs finished 16th in the boys’ team standings.

Oak Mountain led Shelby County teams in the girls’ team standings with a second-place finish in the girls’ 5K race.

The Eagles’ Haley Davidson won the girls’ 5K race after posting a time of 20:32.81.

Teammate Allie Ingram finished 14th overall with her time of 22:17.59. Katelyn Brock of Oak Mountain came in 20th overall with her time of 22:40.72.

Christina Tam of Oak Mountain came in 26th overall with her time of 23:02.23. The Eagles’ Emily Beckett finished 27th overall with her time of 23:05.65.

Pelham finished third in the girls’ team standings.

Maggie Porter led the Panthers as she finished seventh overall with her time of 21:42.16. The Panthers’ Lesya Lackey finished 13th overall with her time of 22:16.80. Samantha Hassen of Pelham finished 21st overall with her time of 22:41.81. Erin Landa of Pelham came in 24th overall with her time of 22:57.69.

Host Spain Park came in sixth in the girls’ team standings. Jessica Bilek led the Jaguars as she finished 10th overall with her time of 21:56.68.

Thompson came in ninth in the girls’ team standings. Anna Puckett led the Warriors as she finished 16th overall with her time of 22:22.77.

Briarwood Christian finished 13th in the girls’ team standings. Indian Springs came in 14th in the girls’ team standings.
