Falcons’ men’s basketball slate to include 13 home games

The University of Montevallo men’s basketball schedule will include 13 home games inside BankTrust Arena during the 2011-2012 season, according to a schedule released by the school Sept. 20.

Montevallo will take on two teams ranked in the final 2010-2011 NABC Division II coaches poll, including a home game against Augusta State University and a neutral site contest with Arkansas Tech.

The Falcons open up the season Nov. 11 at the Peach Belt Conference vs. South Atlantic Conference Challenge, hosted by North Georgia College and State University. The Falcons take on Mars Hill at 4:30 p.m. The Falcons will also play Brevard College on Saturday as part of the event.

Montevallo’s first home game will be Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. against Carver Bible College. The Falcons will also hold the annual Coca-Cola Classic on Nov. 25-26. Georgia Southwestern State University, Palm Beach Atlantic University and the University of North Alabama will all take part in the event. Game times are 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on both days.

The Coca-Cola Classic will begin a five-game home stand for the Falcons in which they battle Palm Beach on Nov. 25, North Alabama on Nov. 26, Georgia Southwestern on Dec. 3, Columbus State on Dec. 6 and Miles College on Dec. 10.

Montevallo then travels to the University of West Florida for a tournament on Dec. 17-18. The Falcons will take on Arkansas Tech and Arkansas-Fort Smith in the tournament.

The Falcons open up the New Year at home against Concordia College at Selma on Jan. 3 at 7 p.m., which will mark their final non-conference opponent of the season.

The second half of the schedule features six home games against Peach Belt Conference opponents, including a matchup on Jan. 28 against Augusta State University. The game will tip off at 3:30 p.m.

Montevallo’s final home game is Feb. 25 against North Georgia College and State University at 3:30 p.m.
