The Bobcats got the scoring started just 3:13 into the game as Jamie Colcord blasted a shot that was deflected in by Abby Dalton to give the home team a 1-0 lead. Twenty-three minutes later, Ashley Veilleux scored on a rebound to increase the lead to two goals.

The half ended with the Bobcats up 2-0. Georgia College and State outshot the Falcons 13-4 in the opening half. Montevallo sophomore goalkeeper Kaitlin Thomas made four saves, while her counterpart made two saves.

The Bobcats scored with less than nine minutes to play in the game when Veilleux added another goal to increase the lead to three goals. After a goalie switch, which allowed junior Alyssa Maxwell to enter the game for the Falcons, Georgia College and State scored one more goal with less than two minutes to play to end the game with a 4-0 advantage.

The Bobcats outshot the Falcons 10-5 in the second half, with Thomas making five more saves to increase her total to nine saves on the evening.

Sophomore Taylor Knerr and freshmen Octavia Saunders and Emma Greenwood led the Falcons with two shots each.

The Falcons will be back in action Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. as they host undefeated North Georgia College and State University.

The Montevallo men’s soccer team’s match against Concordia College at Selma, scheduled for Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m., was postponed due to unplayable field conditions. The Falcons and Hornets are working on rescheduling the match.
