Shelby County runner wins Scottsboro race

Shelby County High School junior Jacqueline Head won the Scottsboro Invitational girls’ 5K race Sept. 17.

Head, running as an individual, led the field with her time of 18:41.80. Head’s time put her nearly two seconds ahead of second-place finisher Mary Catherine Ellard of Mountain Brook.

The Shelby County boys’ cross country team finished 16th in team standings in the boys’ race. Sophomore Wally Morris led the Wildcats as he finished 147th overall with his time of 21:03.12.
