Coosa Valley Academy fell on the road at Jackson Academy 39-6 in an Alabama Independent School Association Class 1A, Region 1 contest Sept. 23.

Hunter Winslett scored on a 1-yard touchdown run to account for the Rebels’ lone touchdown in the game.

Cody Wood completed 10-of-22 passes for 76 yards with two interceptions in the loss. Preston Parker completed 7-of-16 passes for 39 yards.

Steven Cryer reeled in seven receptions for 60 yards. Winslett finished with four receptions for 36 yards.

Mason Donohoo rushed for 47 yards on nine carries. Landon Floyd rushed for 23 yards on seven attempts.

Floyd led Coosa Valley with eight tackles. Jake Carter finished with seven tackles.

Despite the Rebels’ fifth-consecutive loss, first-year Coosa Valley coach Bobby Hughes can tell his team is improving a little each week.

“We’ll still win some games,” Hughes said. “We’re just not very good this year.”
