Falcons and Argonauts battle to a scoreless tie

The University of Montevallo men’s soccer team battled the University of West Florida for 110 minutes and neither team could take the upper hand in a 0-0 tie in a non-conference match Sept. 27.

The contest marks the third time in program history that the Falcons (5-2-2) and West Florida have ended a men’s soccer match in a 0-0 tie.

The Argos outshot the Falcons 22-16 and held a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Brendan Ledgeway made nine saves for the Falcons to capture his fourth shutout of the season.

Junior Shane Howard led the Falcons with five shots, including three shots on goal. Senior Phil Jackson and junior Alwyn Adams each had three shots.

The Falcons were called for 13 fouls, while the Argos committed 12. Each team had one yellow card.

The Falcons return to action Oct. 2 at 2:30 p.m. as they host USC-Aiken in Peach Belt Conference action.
