FROM STAFF REPORTS

MONTEVALLO – Be in Montevallo on Saturday, Oct. 15, for the Montevallo Fall Market, sponsored by Shelby Baptist Medical Center, 9 a.m.-noon, and the first-ever Montevallo Artwalk from 5-8 p.m. Saturday morning’s market on the parking lot behind First Baptist Church is a reprise of this summer’s award-winning farmers market.

Shop for fall produce with favorite local growers, and also meet arts and crafts vendors who are planning to participate. The market music will begin at 9 a.m. with the Dulcimer Band and continue at 10 a.m. with the Pea Ridge Senior Singers. Fresh eggs, honey, produce, sourdough bread and specialty soaps and candles are just some of the items available Saturday morning.

The Artwalk on Main Street will include refreshments, live music and art everywhere to make this a special evening in town.  Parnell Memorial Library, Napier Hall on the UM campus, Blue Phrog Gallery, International Art Gallery, and places in between will open their doors to visitors.

Art demonstrations will include printmaking at Stranded Art and chainsaw sculpture at Eclipse Coffee and Books. Pianos will be outside at Lula B’s and DC Wireless, and anyone can play. Montevallo First Baptist is bringing two bands to play at the church during the Artwalk. Also at First Baptist, parents will find children’s activities supervised by Montevallo Elementary PTO and art faculty and students from UM and Montevallo schools.

This event is supported by the City of Montevallo, Montevallo Chamber of Commerce, University of Montevallo and Boatright Railroad Products. For more information, email montevalloartwalk@gmail.com.
