FROM STAFF REPORTS

The University of Montevallo men’s soccer team and sophomore goalkeeper Brendan Ledgeway extended its shutout streak to 507 minutes in a 0-0 tie with Lincoln Memorial University on the road Oct. 11.

Ledgeway is just seven minutes shy of the school record, which was set back in 2007.

The Falcons (8-2-3) outshot the Railsplitters 24-17 and had a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal. Junior Shane Howard led the Falcons with six shots including one on goal. Senior Phil Jackson added four shots with two on goal.

Ledgeway had five saves in the tie and the shutout marked his eighth of the season, which ties him for second in the Falcons’ record book for shutouts in a season.

Leonardo Germniani and Mario Pinto led Lincoln Memorial with five shots each. Michael Watkins made seven saves for the Railsplitters.

The Falcons, who entered the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division II poll at No. 21 this week, will return to action Saturday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. as they travel to Francis Marion University for a Peach Belt Conference contest.
