Late goal downs Falcons in women’s soccer match

The University of Montevallo women’s soccer team gave up three goals in a span of three minutes and 58 seconds with just under 20 minutes to play in a 3-0 loss to the University of North Alabama in a non-conference match Oct. 12.

Montevallo (4-9) held the Lions scoreless for 71 minutes, but a flurry of offense gave the Lions a lopsided victory despite the closely played game.

Montevallo had four shots in the game with just one on goal. Freshman Octavia Saunders provided the lone shot on goal.

Junior Alyssa Maxwell played all 90 minutes in goal as she made three saves on the night.

UNA had 18 shots including six on goal.

Chloe Roberts scored the first goal at the 71:08 mark. She was followed by Jennifer Osmond who scored at the 72:49 mark and Heather Farmer who finished off the scoring at 75:01.

Alex McLay took home the shutout victory for the Lions as she made one save.

The Falcons will return to action Saturday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. as they host Peach Belt Conference foe Armstrong Atlantic State University.
