Jaguars claim Crimson Classic title

The Spain Park High School boys’ cross country team claimed its first team championship this season Oct. 15 at the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa.

The Jaguars edged rival Oak Mountain to claim the title.

Brandon Hazouri, the defending Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A individual champion, led Spain Park as he finished second in the 5K individual standings with his time of 16:09.68. Hazouri finished approximately 20 seconds behind race winner Alden Dixon of Arlington.

Teammate Steven Crain finished fifth in individual standings with his time of 16:28.71. Rome Fiore of Spain Park finished 13th overall with his time of 17:18.89.

The Jaguars’ Marc Ferrell came in 24th in individual standings with his time of 17:53.54. Ben Lapinski of Spain Park finished 34th overall with his time of 18:10.02.

Travis Rocha led Oak Mountain with his time of 17:11.30, which placed him 10th in individual standings. The Eagles’ Tanner Syx came in 20th overall with his time of 17:34.95. Caleb Mintz of Oak Mountain finished 21st in individual standings with his time of 17:46.83.

The Eagles’ Will Hamaker came in 26th overall with his time of 17:54.52. Garrison Veasey of Oak Mountain finished 29th overall with his time of 18:05.00.

The Oak Mountain girls’ cross country team placed second in the girls’ team standings.

Haley Davidson led the Eagles with her time of 20:31.97, which placed her seventh overall in individual standings. Amanda Howard of Oak Mountain finished 18th overall with her time of 21:46.28. The Eagles’ Allie Ingram came in 19th overall with her time of 21:57.11.

Christina Tam of Oak Mountain came in 33rd overall in individual standings with her time of 22:38.24.

Spain Park finished sixth in the girls’ team standings.

Madeline Held led the Jaguars as she finished fourth overall with her time of 19:58.63. Jessica Bilek of Spain Park finished 13th in individual standings with her time of 21:38.15.
