Wilbert Lee “Buck” Anderson, age 91, of Montevallo passed away Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Edythe Carpenter Anderson; children, Cliff Anderson and Sherry Yessick (Mike); grandchildren, Tami, Amy, Danny, Beth, Julie, Jenny and Justin; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Haley, Emma, Brett, Bailey, Chloe, Claire, T.J. and Jesse; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was loved by all who knew him and will be truly missed. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church, Montevallo, where he served as a deacon for many years and was deacon emeritus. He also enjoyed the privilege of teaching a Sunday school class, especially the senior men’s class for as long as he was able. He loved to visit in the community and share the love of the Lord with others. He was also a lifetime member of the Calera Masonic Lodge #445 F. & A.M. He retired from Westinghouse in 1983.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walker and Lela Anderson; sisters, Dora Edwards and Kathleen Birchfield; and a son, Thomas Neil Anderson. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16, at Rockco Funeral Home, Montevallo. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 17, 2011 at Enon Baptist Church, Montevallo, at 11 a.m. The body lay in-state from 10-11 a.m. Officiating minister was Bro. Bill Trawick. Burial followed in the Enon Cemetery. Pallbearers were his grandsons and great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were members from the Masonic Lodge. Rockco Funeral Home directed.
