Falcons swept by Augusta State in conference match

The University of Montevallo volleyball team fell in straight sets to Augusta State University on the road Oct. 17 in a Peach Belt Conference match.

Montevallo lost 25-19, 26-24, 28-26 to the Jaguars. The Falcons (9-13 overall, 4-6 in Peach Belt Conference) hit .188 as a team, while the Jags had a .239 hitting percentage.

Montevallo was led by freshman Michelle Walker, who had 12 kills and 10 digs while hitting .333. Sophomore Manyi Ati chipped in 10 kills and four digs.

Senior setter Anna Garrison had her 11th double-double of the season with 33 assists and 13 digs. Senior libero Rachel Wotitzky led the team with 19 digs.

Sophomore Michelle Carle fell just shy of double-digit kills with nine.

The Jags had three players with double-digit kills, including Alex Rohlfing, who had a match-high 14.

The Falcons will be back in action Friday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. as they travel to Lander University to battle Erskine in a neutral-site match.
