Commission approves Waste Management rate increase

COLUMBIANA – The Shelby County Commission adopted a resolution Oct. 24 to increase customer service rates for Waste Management.

The increases are effective Dec. 1.

For Residential I, the rate will increase from $11.48 to $11.82.

For Residential II, the rate will increase from $25.92 to $26.70.

For Residential III, the rate will increase from $23.30 to $24.

For Residential IV, the rate will increase from $24.22 to $24.95.

For natural disasters, the rate will increase from $7.30 to $7.52, and for recycling the rate will increase from $5.06 to $5.21.

In other actions, the commission:

-Adopted a resolution appointing Commissioner Corley Ellis as chairman of the commission, and Commissioner Robbie Hayes as vice-chairman of the commission.

-Adopted a resolution to approve a Club Liquor Class II License to Oyster Bar & Grill, located at 53707 Highway 25 in Vandiver.

-Proclaimed November as “National Runaway Prevention Month.”
